Recording a call legally: consent & privacy
Analyzing a sales call comes with obligations. A plain overview of consent, disclosure and data protection.

Using an AI that listens to your calls is powerful — as long as you respect the rules. Here are the good reflexes, jargon-free.
1. Consent first
Inform and get participants' agreement before any audio analysis. One sentence up front does it: "To serve you better, I use an assistant that takes notes — is that okay?"
2. Transparency and purpose
- Say what the analysis is for (answer better, follow up).
- Don't repurpose the data beyond that.
- Let the prospect decline without consequence.
3. Data security
Closer AI isolates data per organization (RLS), never exposes API keys to the client, and keeps you in control of your information.
Ethics = performance: a prospect who trusts you listens better. Consent isn't a hurdle, it's a signal of seriousness.
